I’ve worked on the dog to make him the hero. Created a couple of masks - one on his head and one on the shadowy bit of the flag. Used a bit of texture on the dogs face as well as adjusting shadows, highlights, whites and blacks as well as a little bit of contrast. I reduced background exposure
