Steven Joseph Wolfe of Rochester, Minnesota, a former real estate investor and restaurateur, started his investment career in 2013, focusing on a diverse portfolio that includes a 118-unit single-family rental community, five vacation rentals, several new construction apartment complexes, two Marriott hotels, and a pioneering medical biotech startup. In 2021, he expanded into the senior living market, launching his inaugural project in Durango, Colorado, which was successfully sold in the spring of 2024. Since then, he and his partners have undertaken additional senior living developments in Minnesota and Iowa.

His breadth of expertise covers restaurant and franchise management, real estate development in various sectors, including hotels and vacation rentals, and, more recently, the management of senior living facilities with assisted living and memory care services.

Steven embarked on a significant chapter in his career in 2000 when he became a franchisee of Panera Bread. He established six locations across southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, employing over 350 individuals and managing operations across two states. His tenure as a franchisee, which concluded with the sale of his business in 2019, was marked by adept management of operations, finance, leadership, employee training, marketing, and site management. His franchises were frequently ranked within the top five nationally for customer satisfaction.

Steve Wolfe adeptly managed a large team, including general managers for each site and a district manager, to aid in regional planning. He prided himself on being an engaged leader, often directly participating in daily operations, customer service, and employee engagement. His management team, comprising over 32 managers, was a testament to his commitment to maintaining a robust organizational structure.

His marketing initiatives were designed to uphold Panera Bread’s national brand standards while adapting to the nuances of the local market. This strategic approach resulted in sustained sales growth and the successful expansion of his franchise operations.

Before his franchise career, he sold insurance as an independent broker, excelling in supplemental insurance sales in the Chicago suburbs and consistently achieving top sales rankings. His earlier sales experiences during his college summers, selling educational and Christian books, were foundational in building his resilience and sales insight.

Steven was born as the sixth child in a family of ten in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1988 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in History from St. John’s University in 1992.

His commitment to community service is evident through his volunteer work and significant donations to local nonprofits and food banks. His franchises alone contributed over $300,000 annually in food donations to community organizations.

In his time, he enjoys cycling, attending sports events, and spending quality time with his family and friends exploring nature and various cultural events.
